Important legislative changes in privacy and electronic identity law

MERW briefly outline some important legislative changes in the privacy and electronic identity law spheres. The recently-passed Privacy Amendment Act 2013 makes some key amendments to the Privacy Act 1993, in relation to information sharing between agencies. In addition, the operative provisions of the Electronic Identity Verification Act 2012 (and the accompanying regulations) will come into force on 2 April this year.
