Board diversity and the challenge of Condorcet's Paradox

Current political ideology asserts that diversity in the makeup of board directors can only be beneficial. A diverse board, the literature contends, improves the governing capability of directors which includes better use of human resources by being able to tap into new talent. Women and minority groups are seen as having greater independence from management and can challenge more effective. This is seen ostensibly by the public as more transparent and more credible governance.
