Petroleum Joint Venture - Secretary and Governance Adviser

An opportunity is available for a senior Secretary and Governance Adviser for a JV formed by Chevron, Mobil, BP and Z Energy which is responsible for the management and operations of the coastal distribution of refined fuels from the Marsden Point refinery to storage terminals throughout New Zealand.

Coastal Oil Logistics Limited services the shareholder Oil Companies distribution and scheduling of local coastal tankers and various import vessels from international waters on behalf of the Joint Venture partners.

The Board comprises employee representatives from each of the four Oil Companies who are domiciled in Australia, Singapore and Wellington and Auckland. The Chair appointment alternates between the JV companies on an annual rotation basis. The Coastal Oil Logistics Limited typically holds three or more meetings per annum at their offices in Wellington.

The JV seeks a senior and experienced Secretary and Governance professional conversant with the culture of multinational companies, and capable of bringing objectivity and support to decision making processes which have a vital impact on the supply of a key commodity to the New Zealand economy.

Applicants will be well versed in the preparation and facilitation of Board Meetings, liaison with the Chair and Board members, managing the secretariat in a timely and responsible manner, and bringing the highest level of independence, confidentialityand impartiality. Experience in advising Boards with sound governance advice is essential, all in the context of an ability in group dynamics, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
