Message from the President

To all South Island Members:

The Committee for New Zealand and Board of Chartered Secretaries New Zealand Inc. regret to advise that Sandra Frank has tendered her resignation as a Committee and Board Member. Sandra has made a significant contribution to the Committee and Board, and we are appreciative of her inputs to the direction of the National operations and her representation of the Southern Electoral Area (South Island) members.

Southern Electoral Area members are now invited to consider the election of a Member domiciled in the South Island for nomination to The Committee for New Zealand, and incumbent with that appointment, automatic election to the Board of Chartered Secretaries New Zealand Inc.  

Clauses 7.1 and 7.2 of the Rules with respect to The Committee for New Zealand provide for the Southern Electoral Area, defined as the South Island, to have two Committee Members. Clause 7.7.1 requires that the Nomination Paper signed by the member and supported by two other members is lodged at the Office of the Executive by 31 August immediately preceding the date of the election, namely 31 August 2011. There is one vacancy arising on 1 January 2012.

Clause 9.2 of the Rules for Chartered Secretaries New Zealand Inc. state the Board shall comprise the members of the Committee for New Zealand, and Clauses 10.1(a) and 10.2(b) define the Southern Electoral area and numbers for Board representation in an identical manner as the Committee for New Zealand. Once appointed to The Committee for New Zealand the member is automatically appointed to the Board for Chartered Secretaries New Zealand Inc.

A member of the Committee and the Board must be a Fellow of the Institute and a nominating member can be either a Fellow or an Associate. For the Nomination Paper ... Committee and Board representation provide the opportunity for the leaders within our membership to shape the policy and direction of the New Zealand Division and to provide material inputs to advance the core values. Nominees should embrace internationalism and ideally seek leadership roles within the New Zealand Division and its influence in advancing responsible corporate citizenship.

Nomination Papers with the original signatures of the two Members nominating the Committee & Board candidate, and the original signature of the Nominee should be mailed by 31 August 2011 to the Executive Officer, Chartered Secretaries New Zealand Inc, P O Box 444, Auckland 1140.
