Christchurch Earthquake - Message from the President

Dear Members:

At 12.51 on Tuesday afternoon the Nation came to silence in respect of those Cantabrians who have lost their lives in the Earthquake on 22 February, and to reflect on the tragedy that has fallen on the people of Christchurch and the Canterbury Province. This is New Zealand’s greatest disaster and the Nation’s thoughts and prayers are with all Cantabrians.

We respect many Cantabrians may have family, friends or acquaintances who have perished in the disaster and we wish to express our condolences to those who have lost loved ones. Other Members living in other parts of New Zealand will have also lost family and friends and we share their grief.

We have had particular concern for the safety of Members in the City and its environs and over this past week have endeavoured to make contact with all Members living in the danger areas. We are pleased that to date we are not aware of any casualties or serious injuries, but are sensitive to the major disruptions in their lives and damage and destruction of homes and workplaces.

Mr R A Cowe, International President, requested we distribute the following message to all Members in New Zealand.

To all ICSA members in New Zealand
