Women on Boards Wellington: Women in Sports Governance – is there a crisis?

Seminar

Overview

Sports governance, both here in New Zealand and on the world stage, is facing numerous challenges that include some very high-profile governance failings.

Each of the networking events kicks off with a short presentation from a sports governance leader and is followed by a panel discussion that takes a critical look at what is causing these failings and the impact that the lack of gender equity is having on sports governance.

Topics will include a wide range of sports governance issues such as:

  • voluntary versus mandated quotas on sports boards
  • what role does unconscious bias play in sporting boards
  • how do we create an environment where women can contribute to their full potential

Audience participation is a given! Come with your questions as panellists will not only share their insights, they will offer practical takeaways that you can immediately relate to.
