To be the foremost body in New Zealand setting governance standards, and enhancing the professional skills and ethics of members and governance professionals to promote efficient and effective corporate management and governance.

Royal Charter

The Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators (of which Governance New Zealand is a division of) was founded in 1891 and incorporated by Royal Charter on 4 November 1902. Its Patron is Her Majesty the Queen. A Supplemental Charter was granted in 1971.
